Objectifs travaillés

Soient $ A\left(1 ; 1\right), B\left(5 ; - 1\right) $ et $ C\left(2 ; 3\right) $.

  1. Déterminer les coordonnées du point $ D $ tel que $ ABCD $ soit un parallélogramme.
  2. Déterminer les coordonnées du point $ E $ tel que $ ABEC $ soit un parallélogramme.
  3. Montrer alors qu'$ ABEC $ est un rectangle.

Corrigé

On sait que $ A(1 ; 1) $, $ B(5 ; -1) $ et $ C(2 ; 3) $.

  1. Soit $ D(x_D ; y_D) $ le point tel que $ ABCD $ soit un parallélogramme.
    Si $ ABCD $ est un parallélogramme, alors $ \overrightarrow{AB} = \overrightarrow{DC} $. On a :

    $ \overrightarrow{AB} \begin{pmatrix} 5 - 1 \\ -1 - 1 \end{pmatrix} = \overrightarrow{AB} \begin{pmatrix} 4 \\ -2 \end{pmatrix} $

    et

    $ \overrightarrow{DC} \begin{pmatrix} 2 - x_D \\ 3 - y_D \end{pmatrix} $

    L'égalité des vecteurs donne :

    $ \begin{cases} 4 = 2 - x_D \\ -2 = 3 - y_D \end{cases} \iff \begin{cases} x_D = 2 - 4 = -2 \\ y_D = 3 + 2 = 5 \end{cases} $

    Le point $ D $ a pour coordonnées $ (-2 ; 5) $.

    Vérifions avec l'égalité $ \overrightarrow{BC} = \overrightarrow{AD} $ :

    $ \overrightarrow{BC} \begin{pmatrix} 2 - 5 \\ 3 - (-1) \end{pmatrix} = \overrightarrow{BC} \begin{pmatrix} -3 \\ 4 \end{pmatrix} $

    $ \overrightarrow{AD} \begin{pmatrix} -2 - 1 \\ 5 - 1 \end{pmatrix} = \overrightarrow{AD} \begin{pmatrix} -3 \\ 4 \end{pmatrix} $

    L'égalité est bien vérifiée.

  2. Soit $ E(x_E ; y_E) $ le point tel que $ ABEC $ soit un parallélogramme.
    Dans ce cas, $ \overrightarrow{AB} = \overrightarrow{CE} $. On a $ \overrightarrow{AB} \begin{pmatrix} 4 \\ -2 \end{pmatrix} $ et :

    $ \overrightarrow{CE} \begin{pmatrix} x_E - 2 \\ y_E - 3 \end{pmatrix} $

    L'égalité des vecteurs donne :

    $ \begin{cases} x_E - 2 = 4 \\ y_E - 3 = -2 \end{cases} \iff \begin{cases} x_E = 6 \\ y_E = 1 \end{cases} $

    Le point $ E $ a pour coordonnées $ (6 ; 1) $.

    Vérifions avec l'égalité $ \overrightarrow{BE} = \overrightarrow{AC} $ :

    $ \overrightarrow{BE} \begin{pmatrix} 6 - 5 \\ 1 - (-1) \end{pmatrix} = \overrightarrow{BE} \begin{pmatrix} 1 \\ 2 \end{pmatrix} $

    $ \overrightarrow{AC} \begin{pmatrix} 2 - 1 \\ 3 - 1 \end{pmatrix} = \overrightarrow{AC} \begin{pmatrix} 1 \\ 2 \end{pmatrix} $

    L'égalité est bien vérifiée.

  3. Pour prouver que le parallélogramme $ ABEC $ est un rectangle, nous pouvons montrer qu'il possède un angle droit en utilisant la réciproque du théorème de Pythagore dans le triangle $ ABE $.

    Calculons les longueurs des côtés :

    $ AB = \sqrt{4^2 + (-2)^2} = \sqrt{16 + 4} = \sqrt{20} = 2\sqrt{5} $
    $ BE = \sqrt{1^2 + 2^2} = \sqrt{1 + 4} = \sqrt{5} $

    Le vecteur $ \overrightarrow{AE} $ a pour coordonnées :

    $ \overrightarrow{AE} \begin{pmatrix} x_E - x_A \\ y_E - y_A \end{pmatrix} = \overrightarrow{AE} \begin{pmatrix} 6 - 1 \\ 1 - 1 \end{pmatrix} = \overrightarrow{AE} \begin{pmatrix} 5 \\ 0 \end{pmatrix} $

    $ AE = \sqrt{5^2 + 0^2} = 5 $

    On compare $ AE^2 $ et $ AB^2 + BE^2 $ :

    $ AE^2 = 5^2 = 25 $
    $ AB^2 + BE^2 = (\sqrt{20})^2 + (\sqrt{5})^2 = 20 + 5 = 25 $

    D'après la réciproque du théorème de Pythagore, le triangle $ ABE $ est rectangle en $ B $.
    L'angle $ \widehat{ABE} $ est donc un angle droit.
    Un parallélogramme qui possède un angle droit est un rectangle, donc $ ABEC $ est un rectangle.
